Haynes wch said horse was about two years old & under ye Act wch said horse being condemned by Mr. John wytheres ye Deponent went unto Roger Stoneinge then tenant to ye said Haynes and told ye said Stoneinge replyed he would have nothing to do with it if he was not concerned but Mr William Horton & that he would acquaint ye said Horten withit return his answer and did acquaint me this Depont that ye said Horten should say he did not know ye Law & would redeem him when he pleased and further said not. |

Whereas Susannah Mannington servant unto JOHN COCLOUGH was summoned to this court for having had a bastard child in the time of her service Therefore tis ordered that the aforesaid Susannah Mannington shall serve JOHN COLCLOUGH her afsd Master two years and a half after her time by Custom or Indenture is expired according to Act of Assembly. Forasmuch as JOHN COLCLOUGH did in open Court assume the payment of the fine of Susannah Mannington for committing fornication unto the Lower Parish of this county Therefroe tis ordered that the said JOHN COLCLOUGH shall pay the sum of Two Hundred pounds of Tobacco in cask unto Lower Parish of this County at October next alias execution. |

William Loxham complains against John Blundall in a plea of debt the sum of 430 pds of Tobacco won of him in July last past at the house of JOHN COLCLOUGH within this County at the games of cards called Whisk and gleek which he refuses to pay .. But now foreasemuch as it appeares to this Court that William Loxham could not aver Justifie and maintain his action as is before alleged against John Blundall Therefore tis ordered that William Loxham shall be nonsuit and shall pay unto John Blundall the sum of 50 pounds of Tobacco with costs. |

Forasmuch as John Blundall brought his action in this Court against John Storey of this County and could not make appear any just cause therefore tis ordered that John Blundall shall be nonsuited and pay John Storey 50 pds of tobacco with costs. Whereas John Blundall did summons JOHN AND BENJAMIN COLCLOUGH of this County to this Court to give evidence of the Truth of what they knew in an action depending between him and John Storey in a plea of trespass and foreasmuch as JOHN and BENJAMIN COLCLOUGH did faile to appear to give in thier evidence and John Blundall was nonsuited by reason of their nonappearance Therefore tis ordered that JOHN & BENJAMIN COLCLOUGH shall be fined according to act of assembly and that each of them shall pay unto John Blundall 350 pds of Tobacco with costs. John Blundall complains against John Storey in a plea of Trespass for that John Storey by force and armes hath taken away the plts horse and from the time that he also tooke away the horse which was about a month ago since which time the said Storey hath buried rid and abused the horse by which at present he his rendered unfit for any service and hath detayned the horse out of the pts possession to his damage at least two thousand pds of tobacco . . And now foreasmuch as John Storey did appear prove and justifie that John Blundall stands indebted to him the sum of eleven hundred and ninety pds of Tobacco in cask Therefore tis ordered that John Blundall shall make present payment of the said sum unto John Storey and that the said Storey upon payment of the same deliver to Blundell his horse and that each party pay their own costs. Ordered John Blundall shall make payment of 80 pds of tobacco unto Richard Henwood for his attendance two days at Court in a suite depending between him and John Storey with Costs. |

Coakley arrives on Andros from Ireland via W Indes. Benjamin was born in Ireland and came as a baby to Andros. It is reputed that they came with two ships and slaves. This might suggest that they came via the West Indes. After 5 years on Andros they abandoned the island to their slaves and came on to Norfolk Va. One ship was lost and three of the five years of crops failed. |

James and Grigsby COLCLOUGH were named but relationship was not given. John COLCLOUGH was the son of William COLCLOUGH and acted as Adm. of his estate May Ct. 1790. (Will Bk 5 #164 of Warren Co., N. Re a slave that was supposed to have belonged to Mary and Martha BELL who were of unsound mind, apparently mental defectives. On page 39 it states that the slave was in the possession of Granville BRACKIN, having come from the estate of his father-in-law Benjamin COLCLOUGH. Also it mentions the children of Charles and Mary BELL as Zachariah BELL and Benjamin BELL and the lunatic complaints Mary and Martha BELL. In Vol. C p. 11 regarding the same case it says that Mary BELL was the daughter of John COLCLOUGH. In Nov. 1853 term regarding this case it says Martha is an idiot 35 to 40 yrs. In 1803 John COLCLOUGH died, will dated June 1802 loaned to Mary BELL, mother of said Martha BELL . . . Mary BELL died in 1839 leaving 4 children: Martha, Mary, Benjamin, and Zachariah BELL. On page 234 it says Mary is 40-50 yrs of age. |
